Children of Color
In 1999, the Washington Kids Count project at HSPC collaborated with the Children's Alliance to produce the publication, The Real Facts of Life for Children of Color in Washington. The report presents a portrait of the conditions of children of color in the state of Washington and features hard data about economic support, educational performance, health and safety. The report found that Washington and its communities fail to meet the needs of children of color. The report dispels common myths about children and families of color and offers effective ways to pinpoint problems and meet needs while building on community assets.
